The main focus of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is to ensure that laboratories generate technically valid test and calibration results, while operating in a competent and impartial manner. It requires laboratories to implement and maintain a quality management system and demonstrate they are technically competent and able to generate precise and accurate test and/or calibration data. The standard also emphasizes impartiality and confidentiality of client activities.
In India, The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is the accreditation body that provides laboratory accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025. NABL accreditation demonstrates technical competence and capability of the accredited laboratory. Many regulators and clients look for NABL accreditation as a mark of reliability of test and calibration data.
